Anar Rzayev is a prominent Azerbaijani writer, publicist, playwright, and public figure. He was born on 14 March 1938 in Baku into the family of renowned literary figures Rasul Rza and Nigar Rafibeyli. Since the 1960s, he has played a significant role in the renewal of Azerbaijani literature, creating notable works in the genres of short story, novella, novel, and essay. "Ağ liman" ("The White Harbor"), "Beşmərtəbəli evin altıncı mərtəbəsi" ("The Sixth Floor of the Five-Storey Building"), "Gürcü familiyası" ("The Georgian Surname"), and "Təhminə və Zaur" ("Tahmina and Zaur") form the core of the writer’s literary legacy and are highly regarded by a wide readership as significant works of modern Azerbaijani literature. Several films based on his works have also contributed to the development of national cinematography. Anar has played a significant role in the country’s literary life through his long-standing service as Chairman of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, carrying out consistent and active work to promote national culture. His creative output is distinguished by its humanistic spirit, psychological depth, and strong connection to national and spiritual values.
