Rock drawings have been discovered on all inhabited continents of the world, representing an extremely rich and deeply significant extensive “art gallery”. Over many centuries, a large number of works by unknown antiquity artists who skillfully depicted the various parties of life and life of our forefathers have been collected.
Since their discovery nearly a century ago, Azerbaijan's petroglyphs have piqued the interest of scientists and researchers.
Petroglyphs have the unique contents and a context connected with settlements and the place. They give to each complex exclusive authenticity. Some of them special and outstanding. Among them there is unique Gobustan which has been included in 2007 in the List of the World Heritage UNESCO. Petroglyphs are not only visually appealing,well-presented, and well-maintained monuments, but they also have an unusually promising potential for communicating figures on rocks with other archaeological materials, which helps us understand the sense and value of rock drawings for that era's society.
