The Presidential Library has prepared a virtual exhibition dedicated to World Teachers' Day.
UNESCO decided to celebrate World Teachers' Day on October 5, 1966. On that date, UNESCO also adopted a recommendation document to enhance teachers' status. Today, more than 100 countries celebrate October 5 as a professional holiday for teachers.
National Leader Heydar Aliyev issued a decree to celebrate World Teachers' Day in independent Azerbaijan. Heydar Aliyev highly valued teachers' labor, expressed gratitude to his own teachers, and treated them with deep respect and esteem throughout his leadership. He also paid close attention to improving the material well-being and welfare of educational workers. In recent years, the comprehensive measures implemented to develop education, President Ilham Aliyev's inclusion of education among the key principles of state policy, and the care shown to educational workers demonstrate the significance of education in state policy.
The virtual exhibition displays pedagogical literature published in various years. The publications cover the theoretical and practical foundations of pedagogy; pedagogy of school and higher education; social and special pedagogy; teacher training; pedagogical professionalism and competence; educational management; and the content and development of general education.
The exhibition also presents publications covering the history of education and pedagogical thought in Azerbaijan; theoretical and practical issues of education during the independence era; teachers' professional development and advanced training; the study of pedagogical heritage; preschool and primary education; special education; and new approaches to teacher training. Available in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English, this literature reflects various aspects of pedagogy and education.
The virtual exhibition offers teachers, students, researchers, and a wide audience interested in educational matters the opportunity to explore pedagogical literature. Developed in an electronic format, the exhibition makes these publications available for information and research. The Presidential Library's electronic resources in this field increase readers' access to pedagogy and education literature.
