A book exhibition dedicated to the formation and development stages of the Azerbaijani national press has been organized at the Presidential Library on the occasion of the National Press and Journalism Day.

The foundation of the Azerbaijani national press was laid by the newspaper "Akinchi," published on July 22, 1875, by the prominent enlightener and publicist Hasan bey Zardabi. The newspaper, which published 56 issues from July 22, 1875, to September 1877, played a significant role in the enlightenment of the people, the formation of national consciousness, and the development of social thought. After Azerbaijan restored its state independence, July 22 is celebrated nationwide as National Press and Journalism Day.

The exhibition showcases scholarly and journalistic publications that reflect the formation and development stages of the Azerbaijani national press, the evolution of Azerbaijani publicism, and the theoretical, legal, and ethical foundations of journalism. The exposition features publications covering the history of press organs such as "Akinchi," published by Hasan bey Zardabi in the 19th century, followed by "Molla Nasraddin", "Fuyuzat", "Azerbaijan", and others. It also includes materials on the press during the emigration and Soviet periods, on contemporary information policy, and on digital media trends. Publications concerning press organs published during the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic period, the role of media during the Patriotic War, the media's role in information policy during the independence period, and the contributions of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to the development of the national press and state information policy are also presented in the exhibition's exposition.

The exhibition provides a comprehensive overview of the development of Azerbaijan's national press, key stages in national journalism, and significant media developments. The publications displayed serve as scholarly and informational resources for researchers, journalists, educators, students, and the general public interested in media history. They are also of great importance for the study, preservation, and promotion of the national press heritage.
