Scientific publications donated to the Presidential Library
Three titles of books authored by Associate Professor Tamilla Karimova-Kocayeva, chief researcher of the History of the Republic of Azerbaijan department of the A.A. Bakikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology of ANAS, have been donated to the Presidential Library.
The publications included in the collection of the library encompass parts I and II of the author’s work “History of Azerbaijani science: bio-bibliographical essays”, as well as the book “Heydar Aliyev and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences”.
In the first part of the work “History of Azerbaijani science: bio-bibliographical essays”, information on the life and creativity of scientists who worked in various fields of Azerbaijan in the second half of the 19th century – 20th century has been collected. In the publication prepared on the basis of archive materials, the biography of scientists, directions of scientific activity, bibliography of their works, as well as the literature about them are systematically reflected.
In the second part of the publication, information on the heritage of Azerbaijani scientists who lived and operated in the second half of the 19th century – 20th century has been generalized. In this collection of bio-bibliographical essays based on archive documents, information about the life path, creativity, and works of scientists is systematized, and significant materials are presented for the study of the history of scientific thought of the country.
In the book “Heydar Aliyev and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences”, the measures implemented in the direction of the development of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences during the first (1969–1982 years) and second (1993–2003 years) periods of leadership of Azerbaijan by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev are extensively analyzed. The publication provides detailed information on fundamental research directions, conducted reforms, scientific cooperation relations with foreign countries and allied republics, the activities of the Nakhchivan and Ganja Divisions, as well as the Sheki Regional Scientific Center established for the purpose of developing science in the regions.
These publications donated to the library carry important significance from the perspective of studying the history of Azerbaijani scientific and public thought. Being among the useful sources for historians, researchers, university students, as well as readers interested in the intellectual-cultural heritage of the country, these works create wide opportunities for a more complete study of the heritage of scientists who operated in different periods and the stages of development of national scientific thought.
