The Presidential Library's collection has received the "Khojaly Encyclopedia," dedicated to the history, geography, cultural heritage, and the realities of the genocide in the city of Khojaly.

Dozens of books by both Azerbaijani and foreign authors have been published to date about the Khojaly genocide, which was committed on the night of February 25–26, 1992, and stands as one of the bloodiest pages in the human history of the 20th century. Since 2008, the "Justice for Khojaly" international campaign has been carried out at the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, to raise awareness and gain recognition of the Khojaly genocide by the international community. Following this, resolutions and decisions on the recognition of the Khojaly genocide have been adopted at various levels in several states.

For more than 30 years since the Khojaly genocide, there has been a great need for a comprehensive book summarizing Khojaly's historical past and the scale of the tragedy in an encyclopedic format. The authors of the "Khojaly Encyclopedia"—Rustam Hajiyev, Durdana Aliyeva, Mubariz Allahverdiyev, and Sariyya Muslumgizi—have accomplished this responsible task with great dedication. Sariyya Muslumgizi is the author of the idea and the project manager of the 236-page publication, which was printed this year with financial support from the Agency on State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The encyclopedia first includes the texts of official documents related to the Khojaly genocide. Following this, general information about the city of Khojaly and the Khojaly district is provided to the readers. Encyclopedic information is presented on Khojaly's historical monuments, mounds discovered through archaeological research, and well-known personalities of Khojaly. The encyclopedia provides detailed information on the Khojaly genocide monuments, the "Justice for Khojaly" campaign, and the Khojaly Genocide Memorial Complex, which was officially inaugurated in Khojaly in 2026.

The "Khojaly Genocide" section of the encyclopedia provides information on the events leading to the bloody tragedy and the scale of the genocide. Following this, biographical information on each victim of the Khojaly genocide is presented in alphabetical order, accompanied by photographs.

Enriching the Presidential Library's collection and serving as a valuable resource for a broad readership, the "Khojaly Encyclopedia" is of paramount importance for researching the core nature of Armenian vandalism and historical realities.
