17 October — Fuzuli City Liberation Day

On 17 October 2020, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, under the leadership of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, liberated the city of Fuzuli from occupation. This historic event became part of Azerbaijan’s military history as one of the major military-strategic victories achieved during the Patriotic War. The virtual exhibition explores the history of the occupation of Fuzuli, the struggle for its liberation, the courage and dedication of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, and the historical significance of this landmark event. It presents publications that document the city’s rich historical and cultural heritage, the extensive destruction it suffered during the occupation, and the ongoing efforts to restore and rebuild Fuzuli following its liberation. The exhibition seeks to highlight the historical importance of Fuzuli’s liberation, pay tribute to the enduring memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their Motherland, promote patriotic values among younger generations, and contribute to the preservation of national historical memory.
