General information
The Library was established in 2003 on the initiative of the Azerbaijan National leader - Heydar Aliyev on the basis of two oldest libraries of Baku City - Central City Library (former Library named after Lenin) and the Library of General Service Section of the Azerbaijan Republic President's Administration (former Library of the Political Education House).
Main tasks of the Library is to accommodate the staff of the Executive Office as well as the President's Administrative Department, central and local executive bodies with library-bibliographic and informational services, books, periodicals and other types of documents available in the library stock.
Our collection. The Library collection consists of rare book copies on various languages published in the XVI-XIX and at the beginning of the XX century. Books on economy, politics, public, social, popular literature and fiction in various languages make up majority of the collection. The periodical collection receives 230 items of magazines, newspapers and other periodicals published in Azerbaijan and abroad. At present the Library pays special attention to the development of collection consisting of electronic publications.
Automation System of the Library processes. Special attention is paid to the implementation of modern information technologies; Local Area Network and Internet access are provided. Readers can use their notebooks in reading halls of the Library, and get wireless Internet access. The latest issue of the Automated Library System (IRBIS64+) is installed in the Library. This system provides automation of all library processes - from acquisition to book delivery. Along with this the system gives readers an opportunity to use full-text data bases compiled in the Library. At the same time every Internet user can enter the Library's Web-site and use its e-catalog and other electronic resources.
Reference and bibliographic services. There are alphabetical and systematical catalogs, which reflect literature in the Azeri, Russian and other languages. Since 2003 newly acquired books are being entered into the e-catalog (EC). Besides beginning from 2004 certain priority articles from the received periodicals are entered into the special EC. There are also compiled and published bibliographic materials on various subjects. You can use the EC and bibliographic materials on the Library's Web-site.
The Library renders to its readers full range of reference and informational-bibliographic services. Special groups of readers are being provided with bibliographic information by email.
