On January 17, 2024, an event was held at the Presidential Library to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the January 20 tragedy. The ceremony began with the playing of the national anthem, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the tragedy. Professor Afet Abbasova, Director of the Presidential Library; Zakir Ismayilov, Head of the Section of Library Automation, Digitization, and Electronic Resources; Farida Huseynova, Head of the Section of Acquisition, Book Processing, and E-catalog; and Farida Namazova, Head of the Group of Art Literature Collection delivered speeches at the event.

In the library’s Reading Hall, an exhibition was displayed featuring photographs, books, and periodicals dedicated to the victims of the tragedy. The event concluded with the screening of a video that depicted the January 20 tragedy.
